Maurice Gilbert Dansereau of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 78 years. He was surrounded by family and loved ones. Maurice was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan into a family of 13 brothers and sisters. From an early age he was very active, learning to play hockey with his family on outdoor rinks. He became a gifted mechanic, electrician, and woodworker, and the family go-to to fix anything from early in his life. He played violin and could belt out a rock rhythm on guitar. In his career he served as a radio and TV repairman and credit manager before finding his passion in the airline industry, where he managed the repair and maintenance departments of major airlines until his retirement. He also volunteered his time, notably to help run the Folk Festival in Saskatoon making massive quantities of pea soup and tourtiere, and where he served as an Ambassador for the French- Canadian community. Maurice was a loving husband, a dedicated father, and a loving partner. He spent countless hours with his children in the garage, on camping trips with the family, and with his loving partner Bernadette. He had a uniquely warm personality and giving spirit, and with a disarming openness and charm he touched many lives around him. He will be sorely missed. Maurice is survived by his loving sons, Norman (Marina) and Donald (Linda); granddaughter, Lise; and partner, Bernadette. He was predeceased by his wife, Anita Dansereau (nee Delisle) and parents, Hercules and Parmelia. Those wishing to pay their respects and celebrate his life may do so on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 3:30 pm at Heritage Park Gasoline Alley Museum Mezzanine (1900 Heritage Dr SW, Calgary, AB). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Maurice's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
