ROSTE - Mrs. Doris Roste, wife of the late Wilbert Roste, of Preeceville and formerly of Saskatoon, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024. She was 91 years of age. Doris Marion Roste was born, at home, on May 24, 1932, the 5th child of Herman and Hazel Scharfenberg, while the family lived on a farm south of Preeceville, known as the Stenerson Place. In 1935 the family moved to a new homestead west of Endeavour where Doris spent the remainder of her childhood through young adult years. Doris was a loving wife to Wilbert, whom she wed on May 28, 1953. They had 4 children; Barbara, Lois, Doreen and Edgar. She leaves a legacy of love to her 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as one who always put others first and selflessly gave to those in need. She supported many orphans around the world and volunteered in an orphanage in Mexico for several years. Hospitality was a wonderful gift of hers. She hosted many gatherings of friends and relatives; baby and wedding showers, too many to count. She was known as a hard and dedicated worker in whatever she put her hand to, a fact recognized by Eatons (where she worked for 30 years). She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Above all, Doris loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her faith was the foundation that informed how she lived her life. Doris is predeceased by her husband Wilbert Roste; great grandson Leif Maier; parents Herman and Hazel Scharfenberg; brothers Howard, Leroy, Richard and Clifford. Sister Lavern Milburn; parents-in-law Martin and Anna Roste; brothers-in-law Don Milburn, Allan Fairburn, Edgar Roste, Melvin Roste, Harold Roste, Clifford Roste, Lyle Roste, Walter Roste, Vernon Roste, Ted Francis, Jack Atkinson; Sisters-in-law Gwen Scharfenberg, Alice Scharfenberg, Gladys Francis, Ann Roste, Esther Roste, Lorean Atkinson, Shirley Roste, Hazel Roste, Elsie Roste.
