KOBE - The family of Mrs. Elsie Kobe, beloved wife of the late Percy Kobe, of Preeceville, sadly announce her passing on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at her home, the Preeceville Personal Care Home. She was 100 years of age. Elsie was born on June 20, 1923, in Grayson, Saskatchewan to John and Christina (Yesse) Hoffer, of Dubuc. She attended school in Regina until 1934, when they moved to the Peerless area. They then moved to the Stoney Acre District in 1937. Mom did several different kinds of jobs for families that she knew personally. Elsie married Percy Kobe on October 27, 1941. She followed Dad to many locations in Alberta and British Columbia to be with him during his training for the army, like Regina, Moose Jaw, Edmonton, Queen Charlotte Island, Terrace, Victoria and Vancouver. They then settled on the farm west of Endeavour where they raised their six children. Percy and Elsie had two large gardens, so Elsie canned vegetables, fruits, jams, pickles and also fish and meats every year. They moved to Preeceville in 1971, where a fair-sized garden kept them busy. Mom enjoyed crocheting doilies, and doing thread and liquid embroidery items for family. Elsie broke her femur bone in March 2012, which was followed by surgery, recovery and months of therapy. She lived with her daughter Shirley (Warren) until October 1, 2012. She then moved into the Preeceville Personal Care Home. Elsie is predeceased by her parents, John and Christina (Yesse) Hoffer; husband, Percy Kobe; infant son, David; son, Percy M; daughters, Shirley Gogol and Rose Paterson; grandsons, Ashley Reagan, Nathan Gogol and Daniel Gogol; brothers, Benjamin and Jonathan; and sister, Rose (Peter) Steppan.
