Harry Tureski Obituary

TURESKI - Harry Steve Tureski, of the Sturgis District, beloved father of Dana, Ryley and Nicole, passed away at 67 years of age. Harry was born June 9, 1956 in Preeceville, Saskatchewan. Born to Steve and Katie (nee Zemenuik) Tureski, he was the second youngest in a family of three brothers and seven sisters. As a proud Ukrainian family living North of Sturgis, the language and heritage were strong in their home throughout his younger years. Harry went to school while helping on the farm in any spare moment. After graduating from Sturgis Composite High School, he stayed around Sturgis and worked primarily with Will Moysiuk and his brother, Willie. He then moved on to mechanic at local dealerships, such as Wagar Farm Equipment, Brown Brothers, and Wardale Farm Equipment. Family was a big part of his life; he started his own with Carol and they moved back to the family homestead. He welcomed three children into his life, and then later three grandchildren. While supporting his growing family, he made the decision to mechanic on his own. He set up a shop, and a service truck to help farmers no matter the distance. Aside from work, Harry found peace outdoors. He went hunting, ice fishing, and farming, along with many other ways to experience nature. He loved his community, and avidly took part in local groups such as Lady Lake Regional Park, Sturgis Sports and Rodeo, Sturgis Wildlife Federation, and the R.M. of Preeceville. He helped organize, prepare and run the events they supported: Lady Lake Jamboree, Sturgis Sports Day, and Wildlife Banquets, to name a few. His legacy lives on through his children Dana, Ryley, and Nicole, and grandchildren Marek, Skye, and Ryker. Harry is survived by brother, Willie, and sisters Rose, Ethel, Caroline, and Eileen. He is predeceased by parents, Steve and Katie, and siblings Peter, Marie, Pauline, and Lillian. A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from the Sturgis Community Hall with Shelly Morris officiating. Words of remembrance were shared by Harry's children, Dana, Ryley, and Nicole. Special music was, 'Church in The Wildwood' by Charlie Pride and 'On the Road Again' by Willie Nelson. Interment followed in the Spring Valley Cemetery, with Harry's children serving as urn bearers. Memorials in memory of Harry may be made to the Spring Valley Cemetery as gifts of remembrance.
