NELSON - Ricky William Ernest Nelson, of Preeceville, passed away suddenly at his home on September 18, 2022. He was 61 years of age. Ricky Nelson was born to Arthur and Jean (Hutzulak) Nelson on June 21, 1961 in Quesnel, BC. Ricky lived in the Preeceville area where he farmed. He also spent many years working on the pipeline. After acquiring his 1A combinations vehicle advanced licensing he spent time driving truck around Canada. Ricky continued working up until he was severely injured in the bush falling trees. The injury left him unable to do physical labor, so Ricky went to SIAST and received his Honours Degree in Microcomputer Business Applications, Success Strategies Certification and took various classes in the social sciences. He later returned to school where he received his GED. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and driving his Camaro. His pride and joy were his daughter, his grandchildren and his dog, Rosey. Ricky was predeceased by his father, Arthur (1991); his mother, Jean (1994); his sister, Carolyn (2012) and great-nephew, Brody (2004). He is survived by his daughter, Roxanne; grandchildren, Tera, Joeny, Skylinn and Raidyn; sisters, Beryl and Barb; nephew, Corey (Maryann) Nelson and their and family. A Celebration of Life took place on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home, with Doreen Day, Certified Celebrant, officiating. Special music was Old Man, My Hero and Little Boy and The Preacher. The interment followed in the Preeceville Community Cemetery with Corey Nelson serving as urnbearer.
