I started my Real Estate career at Doug’s Real Estate firm over 27 years ago. Doug sponsored me to become a Realtor at his company, Centurion Agencies. He was a very generous, kind hearted, and humorous man. Never a dull moment at the office or hanging out with him. He always had a new joke to tell you everyday.
Doug loved being a Realtor and and an entertainer.
Doug will be greatly missed.
Your friend and fellow Realtor,

Sad to hear of Doug’s passing. He came in where I worked quite often and was always smiling and friendly. “We speak for those who can’t speak for themselves “. ❤

Doug was part of the house band at the 770 dining room at the Inn of the North along with Bruce and Iris ( I think that was her name ). They played awesome music.

Doug was a good friend on mine when I lived in PG back in the 80’s. In fact, he was the best man at my wedding in July of 1982.
In earlier years, he was my football coach at Lakewood Jr. Secondary School and he later became a teammate of mine on the “Kokanee Suds” basketball team in the PG Sr. Men’s Basketball League.
My last meeting with Doug was over dinner at Earl’s Restaurant in PG last September with our mutual friends, Tom Dawson and John Wagner. He was in good spirits that evening. No one enjoyed a funny story or joke more than Doug.
My favourite Doug Strachan moment was on a road trip to Seattle to see the Seattle Sonics play basketball against the Lakers in 1981. He and I were staying at the Hilton Hotel on 6th Avenue in downtown Seattle. Doug would get on to a crowded elevator, the last one to get on. As soon as the elevator door closed he would turn around and face all the other occupants and start in on a stand up comedy routine. The uncomfortable body language of all the elevator passengers was priceless. And Strachan’s first joke was usually quite tasteless. When he finished his joke, some occupants would laugh, some would giggle and others would just look for a place to hide; And probably got off the elevator as soon as they could, even though it wasn’t their floor.
When I asked Strachan why he felt the need to do “standup” in a hotel elevator, he replied, “what the hell, we will never see these people again in our lives!”
He gave me a lot of good memories and I will miss him!

The world lost a super nice man. Sad to hear of Dougs passing. I have not seen him for 20 years but he was the best man and master of ceremonies at my wedding in 1982. He had such a good sense of humour and was very kind. He bought my baby girl a little dress before we moved away in 1987. I hope he is somewhere playing music and telling jokes. God Speed Doug!
