David Labrum Obituary

David "Dave" Lyle Labrum Jr. May 28, 1947 - March 7, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father. Dave passed away peacefully on March 7, 2011 at the North Okanagan Hospice House in Vernon at 63 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandi, daughter Christa (Ryan and kids Evan, Grace, Rachel, Faith); son Aaron (Sandi and kids Colby, Ashley); Step-son Jeff (Terra and kids Timothy, Elizabeth, Naiomi, Sophia, Jeffrey); step-son Ian (Melisa and kids Gillian, Aiden, Stuart); step-daughter Megan (Ben); Stacey and Stacey (kids Dustin, Brett); siblings Ellen, Marj and Jim; and Christa and Aaron's Mom Lois. Dave was predeceased by his wife Loni, and his parents Dorothy and Lyle. Dave was born in Seattle, Washington and moved to a ranch in Hat Creek BC at the age of 13. Later, he moved on to Spences Bridge where his family ran the Hilltop Gardens Fruit Stand. As an adult, Dave moved to Prince George where he worked for almost twenty years at Canadian Freightways. In 1988, Dave moved his young family to Vernon where he became the shop manager at DCT Chambers Trucking. After several years at Chambers, Dave took an early retirement in order to spend time travelling across Canada. In recent years he enjoyed his "retirement job" at Pinnacle Pellet in Armstrong. Dave enjoyed travelling and going to concerts but he also loved staying at home, entertaining and gardening, and he could play a mean game of cards. He absolutely adored all of his grandchildren and loved to spend time playing with them and building things for them. Over the past year, Dave set an example for us of courage and class as he bravely dealt with an aggressive cancer. Dave died with the same grace and dignity in which he lived. We are so grateful for the loving care he received at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Emergency Department and at the North Okanagan Hospice House. A Celebration of Dave's Life will be held Saturday March 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Armstrong Bible Chapel (2145 Rosedale Avenue, Armstrong). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to do, make a donation to the North Okanagan Hospice Society (3506 27th Avenue, Vernon BC V1T 1S4 www.nohs.ca). Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via email [email protected] Arrangements entrusted to PERSONAL ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL SERVICES Armstrong 250-546-7237 & Vernon 250-558-0866
