Douglas Jacobson Obituary

Douglas Neil Jacobson S eptember 28, 1942 - February 24, 2021 It is with profound sadness the family of Doug Jacobson announce his sudden passing at University Hospital of Northern B.C. on February 24, 2021. He is survived by the love of his life Gwen Penner, sister Betty, his daughters Michelle (Neil) and Tannis, and sons Mike (Karen) and Doug, along with their families. Long time resident of Prince George, Doug retired from Canfor as a millwright and was active in the community over the years. He worked tirelessly for Men's golf at Aspen Grove Golf Course. He was a man of many talents and loved his garden, fishing, golf and woodworking. He delighted in sharing his garden produce with others. Gwen and Doug travelled to Yuma, Arizona every winter and he treasured his time there, playing pool and golf. He will be dearly missed by his many friends at Westwind in Yuma and here in Prince George. Gwen would like to thank the people that assisted at Westwood and Range Road, as well as the First Responders. Sincere gratitude to Dr. Kennedy and the Trauma team at UHNBC for their compassionate care of Doug. A celebration of life will be held later this spring. Loving memories last forever. Happy golfing in heaven Doug!

Dearest all...almost.

It´s close to three (3) years since my beloved Father passed. It is been two (2) years since Gwen passed. I wish to thank you for all the love sent and given, especially Dad and Gwen´s friends.

The cut of their passing continues to be a hard treasure to let go of. After fighting as long as they have been gone, I am finally in receipt of their ashes. Through the Estate I was sent some of his home made bowls and this fills my heart. In fact, his last gift to me, (at Christmas 2020) were a couple of his bowls. They are precious to me knowing where and how they were honed in his work shop.

I play golf now, albeit putting. I play chess, do crosswords, and I read more in his memory-he was a prolific reader. These are all the things my Dad loved. He also enjoyed fishing and camping-a love I have because of him. He loved time with his Friends. I plant on my balcony and I remember Gwen by planting flowers.

He taught me symmetry, organization, and perseverance. He taught me, people can change for the better if they want to. Gwen taught me, it´s ok to laugh. Being a friend with her could be challenging but was loving. They both loved the little town of Prince George. Gwen wanted her ashes to be sprinkled on a baseball diamond. I´m sure parking on the perfect location...she would love that. My Dad wanted to remain in Prince George with Gwen and I also am working on that.

Losing them a year apart and with Gwen struggling with recovering from her catastrophic stroke right after my Dad passed, was excruciating to be witness to. I am at peace she is no longer struggling and is with my dear Papa.

It hurts still they are both gone. I don´t know if I will ever get over it. But that is love and I take them with me everywhere I go.

I miss them beyond breath itself. RIP.

Gwen and family, near and far I would like to say I'm so sorry for the loss of Doug so suddenly. It breaks my heart to know how it has effected all of us so deeply. Time will heal but memories will be there forever, cherish them.

I have known Doug over 32 years, he was the best father in law anyone could ask for, he was caring, loving, accepting, and over all just a great guy.

I could see the love and caring he had for all his kids and there families. I just hope each one of you can remember that Doug loved you all and would want nothing but uplifting memories along with your tears of sorrow and a few giggles along the way.
He will be missed dearly as a Husband, Father, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa.
Hugs to you all and remember I'm sure Doug now has the best golf clubs going, just for being the great man he was.
We miss you dearly
