Leslie Pyka Obituary

Leslie Pyka

1962-2023

Leslie Pyka, after a series of strokes, passed away peacefully May 30th surrounded by her children and husband. We were able to spend precious time with her as she fought to regain her strength after her first stroke in February. She was a wonderful person, loved to laugh, had a tremendous wit and was loved by all.

Leslie Pyka was born March 23rd, 1962, in Prince George and moved to Chilliwack in 1991 to raise her family. She spent the last 8 years in retirement traveling with her husband and enjoying her family, home, garden, cat and dogs in Chilliwack. She is survived by her husband of 35 years Mark, children Alex, Sarah, Colin, sister Patricia Falck, and brother Greg Bunton. A celebration of life will be held August 16th at 2:00 pm for our friends and neighbors at our home. If you would like to drop by, please reach out to Mark or the Kids for details.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Chilliwack SPCA or your local SPCA.

My condolences to the Pyka family. I remember beautiful Leslie as my first best friend and neighbor on Laurier Cres. We were 6 or 7 years old when we met, cutting across the mayor's yard between our houses to have great fun, staying outdoors until it was dark. She liked cards and board games. I would go to her parent's cabin in Fraser Lake, and she would come out with my family on our camping trips. One summer 1972, she came with my family on a road trip to Disneyland, California which was for I am sure 4-6 weeks. It was the highlight of my childhood, and I loved having her as my best friend. I have always thought of Leslie and how she was doing over the years. Much love and peace to the family. My sincere regrets.

My heart goes out to you Mark. After 35 years it's hard to know where you end and she begins and vice versa. You become one.

Condolences to the Pyka family, I worked with Leslie at the Citizen for many years and she was a neighbor and friend to our family on Laurier Crescent. Leslie was a bright spirit at the newspaper and handled a tough job with a smile and, often, with a joke. Doug and Kathy Martin and daughters Maria and Missy

My warmest and deepest condolences to Mark, his children, extended family and many many friends of Leslie.
I grew up with Leslie, a regular part of our crowd. She was undoubtedly not only one of the nicest gals but sincerely sweet and kind hearted. Truly a kindred soul. May you rest in peaceful beautiful Leslie.
Sincerely Bill

Condolences to Mark and children. I have such lively memories of Leslie as she was growing up. Leslie was the beautiful young redhead who brought a smile ever time I saw her. My daughter Lori (Gair) MacIver were such good friends going to school and we lived just two blocks from each other. Her late parents were well known in Prince George and friends of mine. Rest In Peace Leslie, I always had you in my mind as how you were doing.
Sincere Regrets with love. Betty-June Gair, Prince George, BC
