I just stumbled across this today....
RIP Auntie. I remember you in the evening after supper sitting on the bench in front of the wood cookstove playing your guitar. The gas lantern pumped and running hanging from the centre of the kitchen ceiling. I remember you taking me to Prairie Valley School one sunny day, given paper and crayons, lunch time out in the yard and the old barn. I remember the walk in the snow down to the barn with Uncle Bud, for morning milking. Then given the task of turning the cream separator crank, and helping with the cleaning afterwards. The thick cream that came to the top of the cream pail sure tasted special on the oatmeal Grandma slow cooked on the back of the stove.
Grandpa's mower, where Uncle Bud left it, on the road down in the valley hay meadow, just south of the school.

RIP Auntie...
I just stumbled across this today...
I have memories sitting beside you, as a young boy, of you playing guitar on a bench in front of the wood cookstove in the kitchen. That was after supper, the gaslamp pumped up and running. Grandma had oatmeal on the back of the stove "slow cooking". Sure was a treat with "real" cream, thick, skimmed from the top of the pail. Morning trip to the barn with Uncle Bud to do the milking, then given a chance to turn the crank on the cream separator later. You took me to your school one day, across the fields, down to Prairie Valley School, where Mom also went.... A bright sunny day, given paper and crayons...
