Mika Saario Obituary

Mika Sakari Saario March 31, 1968 - July 11, 2012 It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden and far too soon passing of Mika Saario. Mika was born in Loimaa Finland and lived in Prince George, B.C from the age of 3 ½ . He was predeceased by his baby brother Markus and his father Sakari Saario. Survived by his first love, loving wife Patricia, his very much loved sons Erkki (Dana) and Jari, his mom Seija, sister Pia (Bruce), niece Tanja, brothers Sami (Nina), nieces Aila and Jersey, Riku (Chantel) and by numerous relatives in Finland and Sweden, and family and friends here in Canada. Last but not least his girls Jazz & Gurdy (turkey brains) and his newest additions Igg and Ugh. Mika was a hard worker with a loving heart who would give his shirt off his back to anyone needing help. He was a "Man with a Heart of Gold" and will be missed so much by all who knew and loved him. A viewing will be held at Assmans Funeral Chapel 1908 Queensway Street on Tuesday July 17, 2012 from 7pm-9pm followed by a memorial service Wednesday July 18, 2012 at 4pm at Blackburn Community Hall 2451 S Blackburn Road.

Dear Seija, Patricia and Family of Mika,
How very sad we are to hear of your loss..
We know your pain and the many emotions that are within all of you at this time..
To say that your Mika was a man with a heart of gold speaks volumes for the wonderful human being that he was!
Take comfort in those words alone that he was a true gift to you and those whose lives he touched in his short time here on Earth.
Life is a journey that all of us are on..
It often leaves us with many questions; one day we will come to know the answers.
Please know that others share your sadness, and may it help to ease your sorrow in some way.
More than ever now, be there for one another.
God be with each and everyone of you.
From our hearts with love and understanding,
Dianne and Gordon Fleming

Patricia and Family,

I regret that I could not make it to the service. But I wanted you to know that it filled me with sadness when I heard Mika had passed, even though we had not seen each other for a long time. Both you and Mika and the core group of friends in Cadets made a big impact in my life and I will always consider you all friends for life.

Mika's work ethic and leadership are models I use in the Coast Guard. One memory I have of the good times was when we all went tubing down the river in a large group a number of times in the summer.
