Nancy Cutts Obituary

Nancy Lou Cutts (nee Simpson) 1923-2014 At the grand age of 90 years Nancy Cutts went to her Lord on September 25th 2014 at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Sherbrooke. She was the widow of Reverend Montague Cutts. She was a wonderful lady, devoted to helping others in word and deed. An only child, she had a happy childhood with her parents Frank and Gladys Simpson in Montreal. She joined the Air Force at eighteen to serve her country and loved her work as a wireless operator. For forty years she accompanied her husband Monty in the service of the Anglican Church in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick where she devoted her time to serving others. After retirement they moved to BC to be closer to their two boys David and Stephen. There she made many friends and continued to serve her neighbour. Following the death of her husband she returned to Quebec with her daughter Judith and lived her last years with courage and humility and always in generous service to family, friends and others. After leaving Prince George, she kept in close contact with her many friends as you continued to be an important part of her life. Thank you all for maintaining your friendship with her. A special thanks to Paul for the entertaining phone calls. She will be greatly missed by her children Judith (Richard), David, Steve (Sylvie); her grandchildren Tracey, Daniel (Chantal), Erik (Amanda), Marie-Chantal, Robyn, her great-grandson Ayen, other relatives and many friends. The funeral to celebrate her life will be on October 2nd 11 :00 am at Notre-Dame-du-Perpétuel-Secours (Sherbrooke). Burial will take place in Montreal on October 3rd. Condolences may be sent to [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Prince George Hospice House, or the local SPCA (Mum loved animals!), or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. ARRIVAL The waves were all my eyes could see The current all my arms could feel; A chilly rain so battered me That where I was became unreal. I pulled and cried, all courage spent, With every blast I fell behind- All rocks, and spume and empty sea All space awhirl, my eyes half blind. Then all was gone, rain, wind and wave The pain that seized, the tears that fell; My small boat crested on the swell, And You were waiting there for me. nlc

Our Mum fancied herself as a bit of a poet, it was a way she expressed her joy, her thoughts, her sadness, her memories, herself.

She wrote this poem after the family dog (good-natured water spaniel cross) had departed on its next great adventure.

Mum dreamed about being published, well, now's her chance!

OUR DOG JANEY (1954 - 1970)
One less dish on the floor
Who will complain?) One less bark at the door,
Comes the rain.

One old carton to burn
Back of the shed.
One old jacket of mine
From her bed.

No more yelling around
Playing the fool.
No more welcoming sound
After school.

One small hole in the ground
(My, she was smart!)
Throw in this bone that I found
And my heart. nlc

Steve, Dave and Judith,
I only met your Mom a few times, but her love and caring for you three (and others) was obvious. Your stories about her, your frequent visits with her and your own caring for her showed a wonderful family bond. We send our sincere condolences. Ken and Barbara, Prince George, BC
