Neil MacArthur Obituary

Neil Morris MacArthur, was born in Corrine, SK on March 26, 1913 and passed away on Nov 17, 2011 with his family by his side. He is now with his wife, Ethel, who passed away one month earlier on October 11, 2011. After 70 years of marriage it is comforting to know that they are together once again. Neil came to the Prince George area in 1939 and began working in the forestry industry for Trick Sawmill at Aleza Lake. It was there that he met and married Ethel. Neil was a pioneer in the logging and construction industry and he worked throughout the province owning and operating several companies including MacArthur Construction. He was a life member of the Prince George Elks Lodge #122. He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Lorna (Wayne) Dittmar, Neila (John) Ollinger, and Florence (Wayne) Cavenaile; his four grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Glazier, Stephen (Megan) Ollinger, Christine (John) Halovich, and Lana (John) Tosoff; his seven great grandchildren and by his numerous relatives and friends. Neil was predeceased by his wife, Ethel; his brothers John, Charles and Allister; his sisters Florence and Margaret. The family wishes to pay special thanks to: Dr. Ian Schokking and his staff, Hamilton House and staff, particularly Dorothy Parent and Serena Hawley; and most recently, the exceptional staff at Simon Fraser Lodge. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Knox United Church, Fifth Ave. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your choice of charity.

There are many lovely memories of visits with the family. My deepest sympathy to all of you.

Words to give you comfort: Perhaps they are not stars but rather openings in the heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are at peace.
