He will be deeply missed by his parents, Herb and Margaret Schlitt, brother Wilfred Schlitt (Irene), sister Marie Easley, sister Dorothy Ruhwald (Kurt), and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Even being an Athiest i never had conflict with Peter, a brilliant kind intelligent man who i enjoyedworking with emensely at his aautobody shop. I met Dean Burch and worked with him at Peter's shop and still rememberasif it was yesterday, sandblasting a pontiac and occassionally working on a green ranchero one panal per visit as Peter always accomodated his customers wishes. And Peter's amazing daughters playing piano at the shop and Haying as a team at Peter's ranch. Huge fond memories of a truely wonderful human being!! Sorry I just found out while looking up names of old friends on google. My heartfelt condolences to a great family.

I am so sad to hear this news, I accidentally came upon this obit.
I remember Peter very well from Church, he was a bright and very bright young man who loved his family very dearly.
One of my fondest memories is when he picked me up for church in his beautiful pink suit. He made me laugh.

When I was a young girl I knew Peter and Wilfred and Wilfred married my friend Darlene. Peter was so loved by all the girls for his piercing blue eyes and gorgeous great looks He was the most handsome young guy I think I ever knew. He was also one of the nicest guys you could meet, I used to joke with him on Sunday after church. My deepest condolences to his family and friends What a terrible loss.

What a lovely fellow, always so pleasant. One time at Clucultz Lake as we were learning to sail, our boat hit his boat in the rear and knocked a small piece off one of the rudders on his beautiful new boat. He was so understanding and forgiving for what we felt so bad about.

My condolences to the Schlitt family. I have fond memories of Peter and his positive presence. When I first met him, I think I was grade 4 or 5. He was kind and fun and always teasing my sisters and I. We continued to cross paths and it was always refreshing to chat with Peter. I haven't seen Peter for many years now but still have many fond memories.

Sending warm condolences to the Schlitt family, and to all of the friends who knew and loved Peter (like me). I feel so fortunate to have known Peter for so many years, his quirks, his intelligence, his silly nature, his love of family, his willingness to help others always.

I will miss my biannual phone conversations with Peter most of all. Always full of laughter, insightful thoughts, and catch up information about his beloved family, and the many nieces and nephews (whom he adored).

Peter and I discussed his prognosis a few years ago and I want to share something he said. I have never forgotten the truth of that conversation, it still resonates with me to this day.

"Even if I died tomorrow I would be OK with that. I have had an amazing life as it is. I'm good, and who cares if I don't see the 'golden years', I don't have to feel sad that I won't be around to live them, because I have lived the golden years absolutely and completely, and continue to live them right now"

And that was Peter. Gold.
Rest in Peace my dear friend.

My condolences to Peter's family, friends and his work family at UTC.
Peter was a dear and valued customer of ours since 1992. I would always look forward to visiting him every year and he would welcome me as a friend and he would share stories of his explorations and adventures and would always ask me about mine.

I will remember Peter has a friendly, kind hearted, gentleman and will miss his big smile.

I am so sorry to hear this. I first met Peter working out at the gym and he was nice enough to "spot" me and make sure I didn't injure myself. We would spot each other as we both were pursuing our fitness goals. After that he was a customer of mine for over 30 years.
My deepest Condolences to Peter's Family, Friends and his Business Family. Peter has had many staff stay with him for many years, (a rare thing these days), a true testament to the positive energy and workspace environment he provided. You will be missed my friend!

Peter was my mom’a (Stacy) boss at UTC, except he was so much more than that. He did so much for our family over the 10+ years and I’m so happy he got to see me grow up from a kid and meet my own kids as an adult. I will never forget his sense of humour and sarcasm. He gave me an mango for a house warming gift once and i think that’s the perfect representation of what a silly and fun living guy he was. You will be deeply missed Peter

I am so heartbroken to hear about the passing of my dear friend Peter. I loved Peter so much I enjoyed chatting with him whenever I went to pick up our orders at Up the Creek. I nick named Peter "Sapphire" this was a running joke between him and I. I am so sad and so heart broken I will miss my friend so much, he was such a gentle soul with a big heart. Prince George has lost someone so special.
