Willem Hoksbergen Obituary

"BILL" Willem Hendrik Hoksbergen went to Heaven at dawn on October 1st, 2017. Bill was born in Amersfoort, The Netherlands on May 15, 1924 to Hendrikus and Wilhelmina (nee van de Tweel) Hoksbergen. He is predeceased by his parents and step-mother Anna Hoksbergen (nee van Dijk) and his brothers and sisters Aal, Janus, Piet, Marie, Jans, Henk, Aart, Mien and Ali. Bill is survived by and will be greatly missed by his dear brother, Roel (Trudy) (The Netherlands), and his sister, Nel (The Netherlands); his wife Angie (Prince George, BC); his daughter Jeannette (New Westminster, BC); his son, David, daughter-in-law, Viemla, and grandchildren Benjamin, Joy, and Grace (Prince George, BC); sister-in-laws Dolores Jaster (Meadow Lake, SK) and Annette Calas (Saskatchewan); numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family and good friends. He is also predeceased by his brother-in-laws Gerry Jaster, David Kopp and Arnold Bells, and sister-in-law Jeannette Bells. Following the footsteps of their brother Harry, Bill and Aart emigrated to Canada in 1952 to work on farms in Saskatchewan. While working on a farm in Humboldt, SK Bill met his future wife Angie. Bill moved to Prince George in 1956, followed by Angie in 1958, where they were married in 1961. They had their first child David in 1962 and their daughter Jeannette in 1965. In 1962 Bill started his new career at the Canadian National Railways where he worked for 27 years until retirement. After retiring, Bill spent his days gardening, landscaping and doing volunteer work with St. Vincent de Paul, the Hospital Auxiliary and ECRA. He greatly enjoyed his garden, flowers and visiting with his friendly neighbours at his home in Starlane Subdivision where he resided since 1963. Bill was well known for his generosity with his homegrown raspberries, garden produce and plants. We would like to thank the Jubilee Lodge staff for their exceptional care and friendship that they extended to Bill. The friendship and care of Emma and Todd Bugge was especially appreciated. A Thank You to Dr. Zhang for all you did for Bill over the last three years. There will be no service by Bill's request.

Very sorry for your loss, Angie, Jeannette, David and family.
Bill and Angie were some of the first folks my husband Scotty and I made friends with when we first arrived in Prince George. Bill and Angie are God-parents to our first son John.
May he rest in peace with The Creator forever.

I was one of the very many recipients of Bill's garden harvests when I lived in Starlane subdivision. He was such a kind and caring man and I will never forget him!

Sorry foryour loss. I worked with Bill many years at CN and fondly remember his sense of humour. If you asked a stupid question you certainly would get a stupid answer. RIP dear friend
