William Rushton Obituary

William (Bill) F Rushton January 14, 1924 - November 27, 2021 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bill Rushton, just shy of his 98th birthday. Dad passed away peacefully at home with family by his side. Born January 14th, 1924 in Nakusp BC, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Remembered by son Bill (Kim), daughter Anne (Claude) and adored grandchildren Shea (Stephanie) and Kyla (Rayce). Also survived by sister Beth Carr-Hilton. Predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years Betty in August of 2020. He always looked forward to Sunday breakfasts with the "crew" (Dave, Manfred and Suka) and family. Also the weekend "Union Meetings" at the farm with kids and grandkids and the daily morning coffee breaks at Timmies . His favorite was spending time in the shop, where mom would get a break. He was a handyman and avid woodworker and could fix or build pretty much anything. He had a huge desire to travel and had a special bond with many countries in Africa. The family would like to thank Dave Lea, Ken/Deb Yorston and Bill/Nancy Lynch for always being true and loyal friends. No service by request.

My condolences to Bill and Anne and families. Bill built my mom´s cabinets in the sixties. They were beautiful. He was one of our special customers at Windsor Plywood´s, and in the 70´s he built the cupboards for my home. They are still being used.. He live his life to the fullest and left his knowledge to his son and daughter...

Billy and family so sorry to hear of your dads passing. I first met Bill when I helped him at PG Wood Preserving where I helped him do a little work. After that I would visit him occasionally in his shop, I was always amazed at the great projects he turned out. RIP.

I will always remember the hours spent in hid shop with Billy. Getting his input on the furniture projects we were working on as well as the coffee breaks in the house with Bill and Betty was always a joy. My condolences to Billy, Anne and their families

It came with great sadness, when we heard the news of Bills passing. Our hearts are with the family through these sad times. Bill was such a great joy to be around, and always came with a sense of humour, that left us in stitches. As sad as it is to say goodbye to Bill, we can´t help but feel a sense of happiness; a sense of happiness that we were able to have had the pleasure of knowing Bill.

A wonderful man to chat with over the fence while tending the garden. You couldn´t ask for friendlier neighbours.

I always enjoyed the visits with Bill and Betty!! I couldn't make the trip to PG without stopping to see these wonderful people! Bill would always show me his latest creations and I will forever remember when he showed me his model planes! The excitement on his face and his explanations of them all will stay with me. I will miss him greatly. My deepest condolences to the family.

Bill, I will never forget you! Well I will never forget you and Betty your lifelong sidekick! You and Betty popping in for a visit when I moved to Lethbridge and going out for breakfast we had such fun. My childhood dollhouse, I had the best one thanks to you! Barbie had the nicest hard wood floors in all of playland! Visiting with you and Betty has always been a highlight of my trips home to see the family throughout the years. I enjoyed hearing all the stories you had to tell you had seen and done so much! You were my Dad´s best friend, and the good influence. I look around my house and I see so many things made by you that I will cherish. I plan to keep your photo in the beautiful chest you made me, along with your story, something to always remember my friend. My thoughts and prayers to your family during this time of loss. I know Betty met you at the gate.
Your friend Amanda Lea

Bill, well whenever we think of Bill we think of Betty and Bill, they were like peanut butter and jelly a perfect pair.
Bill always told me, don´t tell Betty but we are going to do this..........but she always knew. Since Betty´s passing Bill, I knew it would not be long as Betty wasn´t there to tell you, to not to eat your hearing aid ( it is not a cashew), who was on the phone and to yell at you when you set the alarm off but just couldn´t hear it. Betty wasn´t there to keep you in line and you missed that. You missed her. From Sunday visits with Brenda and I, to Sunday breakfasts with Suka, Manfred, Anne and Claude. Always with stories of the past, little ditties and big laughs. Truly one of the guys! Your craftsman ship on everything you built from wood was much like your life. Not perfect, filled with bumps along the way but made for a beautiful end result, a beautiful life and a collection of beautiful friends and family throughout. Your insight, words of wisdom, and sense of humour enlightened our life while you we´re here and we are forever grateful to have been a part of your life. You are forever remembered by our family as Pine Beetle Wood Bill that crazy carpenter that makes beautiful little boxes out of pine beetle wood.
Always Remembered ever so fondly by the Lea Family.
