I don’t think I ever saw Gerry without happy, smiling Kay at his side. They were such a devout couple. Gerry held strong opinions about lots of things, but he always treated his opponents with respect. He may have been small in stature, but he was big in heart and will be missed.
My condolences to his family.

Gerry taught me so many tricks that helped make newspapering tolerable, and more importantly helped me see the art of making it enjoyable. He was a great co-worker and even when I had the privilege of briefly being his "editor", it was clear (at least to me) that he was the mentor, and I the student. I will miss the "tip of the ol' Gray chapeau."

There's one more star in the sky and I'm sure that Gerry is watching over his beloved community, friends and family these days. Gerry wore many different hats over the years but when I think about him it's the stories, volunteer work and time on City Council that stand out for me. He was a giver, not a taker and his life is a fine example of what community is all about.
Gerry had a knack for finding the "heart" of the story and I first met him when I worked for the Powell River News back in the early nineties. His legacy continued in the pages of Powell River Living magazine as he wrote many fine stories for us in the early years. I'm lucky to have had Gerry for a friend and enjoyed many fine lunches with him over the years! Rest in peace Gerry and God bless your beautiful family.

My sincerest condolences to all the family. As a child, I remember that Gerry was funny & told great stories. He certainly did a lot of good for PR.
