Larysa LEVYCKY Obituary
LEVYCKY, Larysa (Lora) Plawan
Larysa (Lora) Plawan Levycky was born on June 24, 1938, in Mariupol, Ukraine and departed this life on Monday, November 7, 2022, at the age of 84 in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.
She spent her early years in a German WWII POW camp and her formative years in displaced person camps in Heidenau, Harburg and Hannover, Germany with her mother Lydia (Lidia) her younger brother Walter, and her stepfather Dmitro (Dymitro). After the war, her mother divorced in Germany and their family emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1952.
In Canada, she became a dancer for the Royal Ballet of Canada and then furthered her career with the Thornton Model Agency. Thereafter, her mother Lydia passed away and Lora emigrated to Los Angeles, California, where she met her future husband Oleg Levycky. While in L.A. she pursued acting, produced a cultural radio program at KTYM followed by opening her own business, the Larysa Plawan Charm and Modeling School.
After retiring, Lora returned to Canada with her husband Oleg and published her first book, 'Destiny', a historical fiction novel reflecting her life's journey.
Lora's charisma drew welcomed attention whenever she entered a room. Although controlling at times, she loved being among people and entertaining her guests with professional artists and elaborate dining. She was very generous to the less fortunate and energized the ambitions of many others around her.
Lora's husband Oleg passed away in Coquitlam, six years earlier. Having no children, or other immediate relatives, she is survived by her brother Walter, her nephew Robert, and her nieces Alexis, and Kalyna.
Her family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude for expressions of sympathy from those who knew her, and acts of kindness given by her church associates during this difficult time of bereavement.
