Mark Darling Obituary

Mark William Darling

On the morning of December 24, at his favourite time of year, Mark left his health struggles behind and soared.

Whether hitting an impressively long ball down the fairway, issuing an extraordinary number of bylaw tickets and later managing the office for WVPD, schmoozing with his RV buddies, anchoring his dart team or playing bridge with friends, Mark's open hearted passion for life was both obvious and contagious. He was a man who asked for little and gave much, a man who enjoyed helping others with enthusiasm, goodwill and laughter.

Mark loved fishing, photography, learning the guitar and painting. He loved his motor home, his BBQ and flashlights. He loved plain bagels with cream cheese, sushi, pizza and donuts with sprinkles. He loved Ellen DeGeneres and NCIS. He loved horses, dogs and birds. But above all else, Mark loved his wife and she him. He was a truly good man.

Left to cope in a world without him are his wife Pat, daughter Erin, son-in-law Chris, brother Tony (Lynda and Jennifer), his Uncle AJ, cousins Kim, Tim and Jamie and many dear friends.

A celebration of Mark's life will be held in the coming weeks.

I had the pleasure of running into Mark a few years ago after not having seen him since we went to school together. We then seemed to bump into each other quite a few times and always had a good laugh and great conversation. I will miss those brief meetings and will miss his easy manner and good sense of humour. We shall meet again and continue the banter.

With heavy hearts we say fair well to our friend Mark. Although we only knew Mark and Pat for a few years, we feel as though we have known them for many. We will never forget the special times together in Palms Springs, Desert Hot springs and North Vancouver. It is not quite the same here in the desert without them. Mark was such a dynamic person and the ultimate host! Our heartfelt sympathy to Pat, Erin and the family including the beautiful Brigette, Marks K-9 companion. Our Deepest Codolences John & Betty

Mark was a great gentleman. I met Mark through Pat's mother, Helene. Patsy and Mark were so involved in the ladies lives. So many great times were had. My mother counted on Mark as being the voice of reason. My last time seeing Mark was at mum's 80th birthday party. As always, he made it so special for her. And presented her with a photo book of her big night.
A very special person has left us.
My deepest sympathy, Patsy.

I was a friend of Mark Darling many years ago, my sympathy goes out to his family and relatives. We belonged to the same riding club when we were kids. I'm sure he will be dearly missed.

Mark will be missed by all of his PacNat friends. He always had a smile on his face and stories to share. Mark always had a treat for dogs and of course the love of his poodles. He was such a nice man and we certainly will miss him. Sending our warm thoughts to Pat and the rest of the family. Dennis and Pat Snyder

Mark was a warm, funny, caring, compassionate man who will be greatly missed by his many friends. His treatment of others, particularly his beloved wife Patsy, set a wonderful example of what we should all strive to achieve. We hope the many happy memories of times with Mark will comfort Pat and the rest of his family during the coming months.
