Matthew Hutchinson Obituary

Hutchinson, Matthew G July 1 1991 - Jan 17 2016.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Matthew G Hutchinson. Matthew made a profound impact on the communities of North Vancouver and Geneseo, New York. Matthew was an elite Hockey Player, Firefighter, EMT and College Student as well as an outstanding human being. Matthew was much loved by so many people in all walks of life young and old it is difficult to mention them all and he was only 24. Matthew was first and foremost a true gentleman. The first to greet you with a handshake and a beautiful smile. A true believer of manners and integrity that is missing in much of today's world. Matthew was well on his way to becoming a "Townie" in Geneseo New York his adopted home. Matthew was a world champion with Team Canada's National Inline Hockey Team. He protected lives and the environment while working for BC's Wildfire Service and always with grit, determination, dedication and hard work. Matthew's motto - never quit because quitters always fail. Matthew was drafted to the WHL as a Bantam B hockey player, something that rarely occurs in the hockey world. Matthew was determined to make a difference in our world but with this tragic loss the world will never know the heights Matthew could have achieved. One thing we do know Matthew is now making a profound impact on another plain something we can only hope will never be taken away from him again. Matthew is survived by his mother Susan, father Keith and loving and beautiful sister Katelynn, also Nana Velma Hutchinson, Uncle Bill and Aunt Nanette Scudamore, Uncle Kevin Hutchinson, Aunt Denise Hutchinson, friends, Cole, Jarad and so many more, cousins, the Geneseo Knights Hockey Club - Donns, AJ, Brownie, Denny, Matty, the Geneseo Geography Department, Geneseo International Student Services, the Geneseo Fire and EMT Services, the College and town of Geneseo and Matthews favorite Big Brother Dave at Griffins Boxing Club. No Consequences. A celebration of life will take place at Sutherland Secondary School on Sunday January 31 at 12:00 pm.
