Maud SODERLING Obituary

SODERLING, Maud Maud Kathleen Soderling, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2021 at the age of 89 in North Vancouver. She is lovingly survived by the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Bud. Maud and Bud were together for 75 years and married for 66 years. Family meant the world to Maud, being so proud of each and every one. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Whittle; daughter-in-law Liz Soderling; grandchildren Michael Soderling, Christopher Whittle, Laura Mayer, Roger Soderling and Jenn Whittle; and great grand- children Noa and Elon Whittle, Ava and Max Mayer and Miri Soderling. Maud was predeceased by her beloved son, Greg Soderling in 2002. Bud and Maud spent 75 years together, many of which were on the water. Maud was born in Vancouver on August 16, 1931 to a family of Norwegian commercial fishermen. Maud and then later, Bud would spend many hours aboard the Sentinella exploring the West Coast of BC. Many years later, they spent wonderful family time, cruising with Sandra and Greg on their 29 foot Mariner, exploring the waters of Howe Sound, the Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound. Later, they moved to a larger vessel, enjoying countless cruises to Mexico and Alaska. In their latter years, they loved nothing more than to walk the seawall or sit on an Ambleside bench, watching all the boats passing by. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
