I was saddened to hear of David's death. We are cousins on my mothers side. All though we did not see much of each other growing up as we are 11 years apart. I remember him always coming home from Labrador City to visit at Christmas or new years. Usually new years as Christmas was a busy time for him. This was a long trip.
I remember one of his last visits talking about the movie Riders of the Lost ark as we had both recently seen the movie.
I was kept up to date on his travels from my mum and aunt Norma. He sure got around.
After he retired he came back to Sandhill for a while before moving to B.C. While in Sandhill he was so kind to aunt Norma always calling and going out for lunch with her. She talked about these good times long after he had moved.
I last saw David in Nanaimo during the fall of 2007. We sent the day together and had a wonderful visit.
RIP
Denis cousin

I was in shock when Sue called me last week and told me that you had passed on the 8th of January, since we had talked on the phone for over a hour the day before. It's funny how we talked about how you were feeling and you told me everything was fine, just the normal aches and pains of getting older. I never got to spend alot of time with my Uncle for all of his life, but when ever he was at home visiting my grandmother my mom and dad would always make sure that my sister and I got to visit with him, he would always call me his favorite nephew. I will miss him and wish I had called him more often but I know that one day I will see him again. He's happy were he is now, and I bet him and my wife are having great laughs together. It's ironic that Uncle David passed away on the same date as my Margaret 3 years apart , if it hadn't been for him I would have never met her. Thanks Uncle !

Good to see you this summer after last seeing you in Quebec in the 1960s. We had lunch in August 2022 in Nanaimo (after I discovered you lived in the same town), shared a few laughs and talked about your incredible life. You were our family pastor at the United Chirch in Lafleche before it was destroyed by fire. RIP David.

How i will miss you, David. Our conversations and discussions on the bible will stay with me forever. They have grounded my faith thus allowing me to pass on what I have lerned from you. Please say hello to God for me.
