David Young Obituary
David Tait YOUNG
Peacefully, compassionately, surrounded by family, David Tait Young passed Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in his 82nd year. Cherished husband of Bonnie (nee Graul) for 54 years.
Survived by children Suzanne (Jesse Wallace) of Newmarket, Fraser (Daniela MacLeod) of Toronto, and Lindsay (Chris Salhany) of Golden, BC. Survived by grandchildren Lily (17), Brooke (17), and Henry (15). Cherished brother of Elise Shepherd of Vancouver, Robert of Halifax and predeceased by brother John of Vancouver, and parents Hugh and Ernestine (nee Roth) of Cornwall. Will be greatly missed by cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
David was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, raised in Cornwall, Ontario and lived in Montreal, New York, Toronto and Newmarket. He was an award-winning marketing analytics consultant whose innovations in the industry were sought out by companies across the country, but he was much more than his occupation. As a young man he built Lotus 7 and Formula B race cars from scratch with his oldest friend Tom Moore and they competed in Canada Automobile Sport Club events. David was a wood worker, potter, trumpet player, photographer and world-class hugger. He had a strong love of sports, playing tennis, golf and hockey. He took up snowboarding in his 50s and became an instructor in his 60s, but he was a diehard Montreal Canadiens fan from the day he was born.
David was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 2003 and battled it for 22 years. He won, dying with the disease but not from it. Many thanks to Dr. Yasmin Rahim, Dr. Peter Anglin, Dr. Remo Zadra, Dr. Jerome Green, Dr. Stephen Dies and all the doctors, nurses and support staff at Southlake Cancer Center for all their help
