Earl Fidler Jr. Obituary

Earl Norton FIDLER Jr.
1928 - 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Earl Norton Fidler Jr., also lovingly known as Skip, Skipper, Dad, Grandad and Great-grandad, on March 15, 2024, at the age of 95.
He is predeceased by his wife Doris (Swanson) whom he has been reunited with after 14 years. He was the father to three daughters who adored him, Karen, Kathy (Wayne) and Krista (Gregory). He was dearly loved by his four grandchildren Colin (Kate), Erika (Drew), Eric (Madison), Kajsa, and his seven great-grandchildren.
Skip was born in Sherbrooke, QC on August 17, 1928. He was the only son of Esther and Earl Fidler Sr. He attended Sherbrooke High school, Mercersburg Academy and UNB, where he excelled in track and field and many other sports. He was devoted to his wife and family and his extended family.  Skip exemplified love and patience and his life revolved around the people and friends who adored him. He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Order and also volunteered many hours at the United Church in Waterville, QC.
He was extremely musical and entertained us all, especially his great-grandchildren playing his harmonica. He had a song for everything and every occasion. He had a quick wit and we will all cherish the memory of this gentle man.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Brenda Lee Piironen and the staff of the Wales Home on Norton One who loved and cared for our dad. Each and every one of you allowed our dad to be himself, even with his many challenges. We are forever grateful for you all.
A celebration of his life will take place this summer.

I love this photo. Skip's hat had been sucked into the water intake of his Seadoo (boat). This is how it came out.
Many fond memories of Skip and Doris at their cottage and crossing boat paths on the beautiful waters of Lake Massawippi. Good times. Dare I say, better times. And so, we are deeply saddened to hear of Skips passing. As The Beatles sing, "Every now and then, I (we) miss you." Our condolences to Krista, Kathy, Karen and all his and Doris' wonderful grandchildren.

Dear Fidler family,
So sorry to read about the loss of your Dad.
He always had a friendly smile for us neighbourhood kids who were forever invading your yard and back stoop.
May your memories of him and your sweet Mom help you through this difficult time.

Thinking of you all
Xx
