Eric Evans Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Eric Evans of Georgeville, Québec announce his passing on May 22, 2020 after a battle with cancer.
Eric is the loving father of Erika (David), Janet (Steven), and Meredith (Warren), and grandfather of Alanna and Ryan. He is the son of the late Norman Evans and the late Frances Taylor, and dear brother of Robert, Norma, and Ruth. He was predeceased by his brother Art. He will be greatly missed by his many relatives and friends.
Eric spent nearly 80 years in Georgeville, Québec where he served as mayor for decades and was an active member of the community. He was always ready to help a neighbor with his time and skills. All who called him a friend knew he was stubborn, but kind and generous, and loved a good laugh.
Memorial donations may be made in Eric's name to the Georgeville United Church (63 Magoon Point Road, Georgeville QC, J0B 1T0) or the Canadian Cancer Society (5151, boul. de l'Assomption, Montréal, Québec, H1T 4A9).
A memorial service to honor Eric's life will take place at a later date.

Wow ! Found out recently ( around June ) that Eric had died . Have known Eric for many years . Have worked with ERIC at General electric , sold him my sport car while he lived in Montreal and went hunting with him many many times . Eric loved life , jokes and always ready to help someone . Sadly , had not been in touch with Eric for a couple of years . All who knew Eric , knew they could count on him for whatever reason . Sad , sad news .

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Eric. I have known Eric since he was an infant and then growing up on his parent's farm when I was a teenager fortunate to work there summers.
Over the next two generations, Eric could always be called upon any day and any time to help solve some problem with our cottages -he always had a smile! He was a wonderful and considerate friend and will be greatly missed by the Leslie Family.
We extend to the Evans family our most heartfelt sympathy.

My deepest sympathies to the family .. The Evans have always been a part of my cottage experience for as long as I can remember ! From going to see Mr and Mrs Evans (Erics parents) and Bun .. to Eric himself always lending a hand to our family to help open and close our cottage ! It took me a very long time to be able to call him Eric .. as to me he was always Mr. Evans ! But in my 20s I can remember him insisting I call him Eric so I finally did ! He was definitely set in his ways but when we needed him, he always came to our aid .. in my family it started with my dad (Jack Leslie) .. then my mom .. then me ! He also helped my uncles and cousins with their cottages .. all I can say , if Eric did not know how to fix something .. then it was time to get a new one ! Thank you Eric for all that you did for us ... you will be missed ..

My sympathies to all who loved Eric. We stayed with him for a few days in 2014 around John's burial. Fond memories of him from that time. He was just as you described him.
