Frederick Leslie DOYLE
Frederick Leslie Doyle, November 14, 1932 - December 4, 2025, recently marking his 93rd birthday.
Born in L'Avenir, QC, son of Gladys Galbraith (n. Lariviere) (d. 1975) and Leslie Doyle (d. 1973). Stepson of Arthur P. Galbraith (d. 1999). Predeceased by his brother Wilton (1984).
Dear husband of Louise Farquhar. Loving father of Mike, Deirdre, Rory, and Martha. Grandfather, uncle, and cousin, and cherished friend of many.
He always had vivid stories of life growing up, stories of skiing to school and of the Bombardier Snow Bus. He could bring childhood characters to life with every telling.
He attended Macdonald College for Agriculture and had been a proud Canadian Army reservist and member of the Legion, Branch #15, Richmond. He always stayed active whether it was golf, curling, skiing or pitching softball. He was still showing up at the gym 3 times a week at Brock's Bfit until October.
He enjoyed winter reprieves with Louise in New Smyrna Beach. He volunteered at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for many years.
Employed in the paper industry, first as a mail boy in 1951 with Domtar, Windsor Mills, then as a Pipefitter, then as Maintenance Superintendent before transferring in 1980 to Niagara as Plant Manager for Domtar Inc. in Thorold, and for Winnipeg. Possessing a keen mechanical aptitude, many of his favourite work stories were of the trials and triumphs of a pipefitter. He first retired in 1991, soon returning to work as a consultant before his next retirement, which did not last either. At the age of 72, he started work in the wine industry in guest relations, largely with Stratus Wines. Il était fier d'être bilingue et croyait que c'était l'une des principales raisons pour lesquelles il a débuté une nouvelle carrière. He loved meeting people - sharing his enthusiasm and interest in the success of Niagara wines. He was still working there, greeting people with a big smile on his 90th birthday.
Above all, and always, his door was always open. He loved huge family and friend gatherings with good food and drink. They often overflowed the table and the house, and Louise was a great convener. On special occasions, he began dinner with a quick grace: "God bless this food to our use and us to thy service. Amen."
Arrangements: A gathering will be held at the family home on December 14, 2 p.m., followed by a road trip in the spring for the interment of his ashes in Windsor, QC.
