Harriet Helen (Heath) HEALY
December 4, 1925 - December 6, 2025
On December 6, 2025, Harriet, in her 101st year, left this world peacefully after a brief illness, following a long and wonderful life. Dear daughter of the late George and Caroline Ingham Heath and beloved wife of the late Kenneth Healy. Predeceased by her siblings Graydon Heath, Mary Thompson, Elsie Reed, Harold Heath and Phyllis Reed.
Harriet is survived by her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Esther Healy, Dorothy Evans and Robert Healy, and by her nieces and nephew Sharon Planadin, Susan Reed, Stuart Heath and Melanie Reed. In addition, she will be greatly missed by her many great-nieces and great-nephews, from both the Heath and Healy families.
Harriet was born in Richmond, Quebec, on December 4, 1925, the youngest of six children. She grew up in Asbestos, Quebec, graduating from Asbestos High School. She then worked for Canadian Johns Manville, where she met her future husband, Ken Healy. She and Ken built a house in Danville, where they lived for a number of years before moving to Montreal, Brockville and Oshawa, finally settling in Ottawa, where they remained for over 30 years, until Ken's death in 2006. In 2007, Harriet relocated to Waterloo, Ontario, to be closer to family. She had almost 20 years in her condo and led a busy and happy life in Waterloo.
Harriet's many interests sustained her throughout life. Her interest in, and vast knowledge of, genealogy and history meant that she was often consulted by other researchers. She loved travel and music, interests she shared with Ken.
As her health declined over the past year, Harriet was lovingly cared for at home and in hospital by her great-nieces Carol and Barbara Reed and her devoted caregivers Ramandeep and Tejaswini.
The family would also like to thank the nurses at (WRHN) Chicopee for their kindness and professional care.
A celebration of Harriet's life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (280 St. David St. S., Fergus, ON) in the Wellington Room - elevator access is available. Burial will take place on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Pinecrest Cemetery (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa).
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to Waterloo Regional Health Network: Queen's Cardiac Care Centre, 911 Queen's Blvd., Kitchener, ON, N2M 1B2, would be appreciated by Harriet's family.
