Joshua Zaffis Obituary
Joshua George ZAFFIS
Joshua George Zaffis, 45, from Calgary, Alberta, passed away unexpectedly on September 23, 2025. Joshua was born on February 10, 1980, at a planned home birth in Waterville, Quebec.
Josh was the life of every party, his laughter was warm and contagious, and his off-beat sense of humour brought joy to all around him. He inherited his father's "gift of gab." After serving one enlistment in the US Army as an Apache helicopter mechanic, Josh quickly developed computer IT skills and opened his own computer repair business in Tennessee. He also worked in IT when living in Calgary.
Josh taught himself to play acoustic guitar, and his passion for music quickly grew. He videoed and shared his music with family and friends alike. He enjoyed taking spontaneous road trips to the Rockies in his truck with friends. He also enjoyed kayaking and floating on the Bow River and zooming along on his electric scooter on the jogging paths, sometimes falling. He considered Calgary to be his home.
Joshua is predeceased by his parents, Thomas Paul Zaffis Sr. and Susan Elizabeth Johnson, and his nephew Carter Zaffis. He is survived by his adult siblings Candy (Ryan Pera), Thomas (Pamela), Kate Goodsell and Matthew, along with his niece Alivia Zaffis, and nephew Drew Zaffis (Annissa), two great-nieces and one great-nephew. He also leaves behind three adult children Zaiya, Zachary and Zane Zaffis, who reside in the States, as well as many friends.
No memorial service is planned at this time. Joshua was an organ donor, and his gift of life will enable others to live.
