Philip Michael KERWIN
July 1, 1944 – January 19, 2026
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Phil Kerwin, of Ste-Catherine-de-Hatley, at the Magog Hospital. He was a war baby, born in Manchester, England, the son of the late Raymond Kerwin and the late Phyllis Bell.
Phil was a kind, proud and social person. He loved his family and his friends. He was involved in his community and believed in giving back. He will be remembered by his buds on the ski hill, on the golf course and at the bowling alley.
His clients were friends, over 40 years as an insurance broker in the Lennoxville and Sherbrooke areas, and of course, all his announcing engagements throughout the surrounding communities.
As his health declined, his health care team became his comfort. We want to mention and thank just a few: Dr. Genevieve Gagné, Anne-Sophie Cayer (nurse), C.L.S.C. – Nadia, Linda, Fernand, plus many more, his co-op supporters - Mirabel, Kim, Bruno; you all made his last months happy ones, and, most importantly, two faithful neighbours; Leon and Yves.
Philip leaves behind his loving wife Nancy Taylor; his two stepchildren Shawn Hibbard (Jennifer Strevens), Natasha Hibbard (Claude Emond). He was a loving Papa Phil to Melanie & Jessica Hibbard and Nicolas Emond; plus, step-grandchildren Dominic, Nicole and Declan. His family: sister Pat Blewitt (the late Nat); his brothers Richard (Kathleen Evans), the late Norman (Judy Hatch), David (Donna Carr); his sister-in-law Trudy (the late Mike McLeod); plus, many nieces and nephews who adored him.
A celebration of life and burial will be announced in the spring.
Donations may be made in his name to the Beulah United Church, 967 Main St., Ayer's Cliff, QC, J0B 1C0, or to the Massawippi Cemetery Association, c/o Tom Schopflocher, 610 Harvey Road, Hatley, QC, J0B 4B0.
