Shirley (nee Hebert) NELSON

Shirley Nelson passed away peacefully at the CHUS-Hotel-Dieu Palliative Care on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the age of 88, after a brief battle with cancer.
Cherished mom of Trenholm (Pauline Antink), Douglas (Francine Beliveau) and Judy (Michael Morin); loving Nanny to Lee Ann (Josh), Tiffany (Rony), Kira, Adam (Jessica), David (Frederique), Sarah (Mathieu), Katelyn and Jacob (Rosemarie), and fourteen great-grandchildren. Shirley also leaves to mourn her brother Bobby (late Myrna), sisters Gail (late Peter), and the late Velma (Howard), along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Nelson in 2005 and was the daughter of the late Allie Hebert and the late Marguerite Barlow of Denison Mills.
Besides loving and caring for her family, Mom spent many hours knitting, making sure that our beloved Belgians looked their best at every fair and event, pampered her geraniums and was a lifetime member of the Melbourne Ridge Women's Institute. Since Dad passed, she also has spent many memorable moments with her friends and caregivers at the day center CLSC Foyer in Richmond.
Donations may be made directly through her children to the CHUS-Hotel-Dieu-Palliative Care, where she was given loving, compassionate care in her last weeks, or Les Auxiliares benevoles du Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke, 580 rue Bowen Sud, Sherbrooke (Quebec), J1G 2E8. These were Shirley's wishes.
A graveside service will be held at the St-John's Cemetery (Gallup Hill, Melbourne) on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 2 p.m. The family will be available for condolences one hour prior, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.
