Stephen McDougall Obituary

Stephen MCDOUGALL

It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of our dear brother, Stephen McDougall, at the age of 64.
A gifted writer, Stephen worked for several newspapers as a freelance journalist. Stephen had many friends in Danville and in the Eastern Townships, an area of the country that he loved and refused to move away from.
The son of Ronald and Brenda McDougall (predeceased), Stephen was brother to Duncan McDougall, Florence Patton and Martha McDougall. He was also an uncle to five nieces and nephews and great-uncle to three nieces and nephews.
Given the high COVID infection rate at this time, the family has chosen to hold a commemoration service later in 2022 to celebrate Stephen's life.

Ami de l'école Mgr. Thibault ( Danville ). Il y a longtemps, mais je me souviens très bien de Stephen. Toujours jovial un excellent copain...la vie a fait en sorte de nous éloigner...la mémoire reste. I am sad to ear that he passed away. RIP Stephen.

We are very sorry to hear of Steve's passing, He was a good friend to us, with a wonderful sense of humour. He was generous with his time and energy, had all sorts of interesting stories, and we have fond memories of him showing us around Danville and Asbestos. Our condolences to family and friends.

I met Stephen back in 2005 when I moved to Danville. He was reporting on the Symposium camera at hand. We got to speaking and a friendship grew. My sincere sympathies to the family. Rest in peace Stephen. I am comforted to know that you are reunited with the people that you lost that meant the world to you. It's sad that you never got to fix your beauties.

I am so sorry to hear about Steve. We´d known each other since Champlain CEGEP, worked together at The Record and when he was a part-timer at The Canadian Press here in Montreal and had many good years of friendship. I´ll always remember his love of the Townships, particularly Danville, his affection for old cars and working on them and his fascination with anything Irish. I recall his service too in the Canadian army reserves, where if memory serves he was thrilled to have been able to drive a tank once. My sympathies to Duncan, Florence, Martha and the rest of the family. May he rest in peace.

I knew Stephen from school and we were friends. I remember one evening receiving a call from Stephen about electrical issues he was having out at this old farmhouse. From what I can recall it needed some serious attention. I did what I could at the time. It was upsetting to see him in that situation. We spoke several times after that and I believe he was preparing to mouth out into a safer environment. Stephen was always calm and thoughtful. I extend my sincere condolences to Stephan´s family and friends. He will be missed. RIP brother.
