Adam Stevenson Obituary
Adam passed away peacefully on December 26th at the age of 103 after a short stay at Matthews House. He was a beloved husband for 71 years to the late May Stevenson (nee Finlay). Adam was born in 1919 in Belfast, Northern Island and married May in 1944. She would become the love of his life for 71 years. In Belfast he worked his way up to the position of Marine Naval Architect. He and May immigrated to Montreal in 1949, where he continued his career until his retirement in 1983. Shortly thereafter he and May moved to Mississauga to be close to their family. They were highly active members at the Mississauga Senior Centre joining the Merry Makers Dance Club where they danced the days away. Adam enthusiastically took charge of organizing the dance music while May partnered as a dancer and helped with the catering for the members. They moved to Kingsmere in July, 2012, where again Adam organized dancing for the residents. Adam lost his loving May in 2015. He will be lovingly missed by his daughters Carol McNabney (Hugh), Pat Skelly (Brian), grandchildren Sean McNabney (Sherida), Scott McNabney (Rachel), great-grandchildren, Jordan and Dufferin McNabney and fondly remembered by Mary, Alan and Linda Turner.
The family want to thank the staff at Kingsmere, the staff at Matthews House and especially Dr. Jensen for their compassionate care of Adam. If desired, donations in Adam's memory to Matthews House in Alliston would be greatly appreciated.
