DAVID WATTS Obituary

Passed away peacefully on June 8, 2022, at the Matthews House Hospice in Alliston, Ontario, in his 87th year. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years Marianne Watts (nee Langewitz). He is also survived by his children Leslie Watts, Jennifer Watts, Carol Watts, and John Watts, and stepdaughter Suzanna Beaucage. He had 12 grandchildren (Emily Watts-Luciani, Stefan Luciani, Nick Lucyk, Jaclyn Lucyk, Laura Matthews, Emma Wilkes, Madi LeQuelenec-Watts, Brady LeQuelenec-Watts, Frank Menary Jr., Nina Menary, Allan Menary, and Kazuki Kawamura) and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father Ernest Estram Watts, his mother Ethel Anne Watts (nee Smithers), his brothers Richard (Dick) Ernest Watts and John Watts, and his stepdaughter Patricia Menary.
David was born on June 21, 1935, in Weston, Ontario (Toronto). He attended Weston Collegiate and Vocational School and then went on to earn his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Victoria College, University of Toronto in 1958. He completed courses in the Principles and Practices of Investment Finance in Canada with the Investment Dealers Association of Canada in 1960.
He worked many years at Burns Fry Investment Management Limited in Toronto rising to become Director and Secretary-Treasurer when he retired in 1985.
David studied music and drama and he performed in many musicals, winning several singing and piano solo awards. He was very active in numerous clubs including the Kiwanis Music Club. He enjoyed sharing his musical talents by volunteering to sing at nursing homes, churches and benefits.
Some of his favorite activities included golfing, curling, square dancing, badminton, swimming, sailing, and taking walks. David enjoyed travelling to other countries, especially warm ones. He especially loved to spend his summers at the cottage on Wood Lake with his family.
David had a sense of humour, loved anything to do with stocks, and was great at puttering around the house, fixing and building things.
He was a man of great faith and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Alliston.
His funeral will be held at the John Thomas Funeral Home in Alliston, on Monday, June
13 with visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the service starting at 3:00 p.m.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Matthews House Hospice in Alliston or the Grace Baptist Church in Alliston.
