It is with great sadness, that the family of Donald (Don) Jackson Shannon, announce his recent passing on June 11, 2022 at Matthew's House Hospice.
Born in Thornton, ON on May 24, 1941 to the late Herbert and Pearl Shannon, Don leaves behind his sons, Darryl (Jennifer), Darrin (Susan) and Dale (Shilo) as well as grandchildren; Shanon, Breanna, Hanna, Hailey, Kennedy, Ryan, Alex, Brooklyn and Logan. Don was pre-deceased by his late wife Lois and is survived by his dear friend Edith Steinmayr. He is also survived by his sisters; Dorothy, Louise, Verna and predeceased by Rhoda Mae. Don will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Don was a devoted family man and a loyal friend who treasured time spent with loved ones. He was someone who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand and was a very respected member of his community. He spent many years volunteering his time as a baseball coach, driver for the Red Cross Society and in recent years, spent countless hours volunteering at the Alliston & District Humane Society.
He will be remembered as a loyal and kind man who lived life with the highest level of integrity. He had a wonderful sense of humour and always had a mischievous twinkle in his eye. Don remained a true gentleman until the very end and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by many.
Visitation was held at Drury Funeral Centre 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston on Wednesday. Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Alliston & District Humane Society or Matthews House Hospice.
