Fay BUCK Obituary

Passed away peacefully at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge, on May 24, 2022. She was in her 91st year. Fay was the youngest child of the late Alfred and Viola (Hillman) Smith (Clifford) of Falkenburg. Beloved wife of the late Edward (Ted) Albert Buck of Gravenhurst. Cherished mother of Sandra Gohm (late Peter), Susan Wilson (Tom Morrow), Janet Buck (Craig Fralick), Jane Johnson (Bob) and Edward Buck. Loving grandmother of Lisa Gohm (Ahmed El-Nady), Christopher Gohm (Tina) and Heather Lobban (Naylor). Great grandmother of Zahra El-Nady, Jacob, Annamarie and Elena Gohm. Dear sister of the late Gordon Hillman, Stanley Hillman, and William Hillman. Survived by her sister Joyce (Hillman) Walling (George Skilliter). Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Fay spent over 50 years as a unit leader with Girl Guides of Canada and later, a Trefoil Guild member. Her life's work - a remarkable span of volunteer service with one organization. Her leadership empowered hundreds of young girls and women to be everything they want to be, supporting girls as they built confidence, developed new skills and became leaders in their communities. She was a force to be reckoned with, if you were too noisy in the tents after lights out too!
Fay was a very creative soul, and enjoyed her many crafts such as macrame, sewing, doll making, and card making. More recently she was making decorative pillowcases and donating them to Conquer Cancer Kids, and to women's shelters in the area. She loved doing puzzles, watching game shows, and having tea with anyone that stopped by. Most importantly she loved being surrounded by her family and her many friends.
Fay's overall health and her eyesight had declined considerably in the past few years, but that did not stop her from living in her own home, being active in her daily routines, and always looking for a new adventure. She remained a steadfast friend, a very kind, loving, and caring person. She will be sadly missed by so many. She left her mark in the community.
In keeping with Fay's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, July 2nd from 2-4 p.m. at the Gravenhurst Seniors Centre. For those who wish, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fay's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association. We wish to thank Dr. Reid, and the nurses in the I.C.U. and North Wing of South Muskoka Memorial Hospital for their care and support.
