George Delaney Obituary

88, of Alliston, Ontario, entered the world on May 16, 1933. On May 16, 2021, he left us for one final time.

George was born in Quebec City. He spent his formidable years growing up in Montreal and as an adult in Toronto. In 1970, he met Gale Calder, but taking the relationship slowly, he waited 33 years and three ex-wives to finally ask her out. Gale and George were lovingly together until the end.

George was predeceased by his parents Reginald and Theresa, sisters Barbara and Joan, and Turbo, Teddy, and Finnegan, who we expect he his playing fetch with at this very moment.

He is survived by his sons and their partners, David & Heather and Michael & Ursula, and his grandchildren Sam & Ella Delaney.

George was born with the gift of the gab, a sense of humour as big as Lake Dalrymple, a love of early morning coffee with the newspaper, afternoon cribbage and card games, and evenings cooking and dining with his friends. He loved good movies where things exploded frequently and Gregorian chants (his soundtrack from the seminary).

The family would like to thank the staff at Simcoe Manor for the compassionate care toward George. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations would be greatly appreciated to Simcoe Manor, Beeton, Ontario or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Although we are not suppose to admit it, as a staff member of the Adult Day Program, George was absolutely my favourite person during his time there. He always arrived with a smile on his face. He was full of stories and had a great sense of humour. We often spent the afternoons playing crib, which was always full of competitive spirit and belly laughs. He truly was one of a kind.

My heart is with Gale and family.

George, I have known since he was a young man and a dear friend of my husband, Steve. They were in school together and spent a bit of time telling lies to each other but they both knew they were lies. Condolences to the family. Marge
