It is with great sadness that we share the sudden and tragic passing of George, in Burk's Falls, on Saturday January 29, 2022. Beloved best friend and husband of 36 years to Carolyn Guppy (Mueller). Cherished father and role model of Michael (Tonia) and Andrew (Emily). He is also survived by his father Robert Guppy, siblings Bobi (Clive), Debbie (Doug), Rob (Pina), as well as many nieces and nephews.
George was a very versatile and selfless man who could fix anything. Originally, he was an automotive mechanic who then became a secondary school teacher, specifically in auto shop, currently teaching at Gravenhurst High School (GHS). He always wanted to make sure his students learned valuable life skills. He even went as far as creating a program, at lunch called "Guppy's Girls" where students could go to learn basic automotive skills, to which many students have shared that they have used these skills. His students have said he was their favourite teacher, made them who they are today and have had a huge influence on them.
Outside of work, George was a big family man and amazing husband, to his wife Carolyn who loves him dearly as well as their two dogs Bailey and Holly. George loved to spend his time boating, seadooing, and snowmobiling with those he loved. His time was mostly spent at Skeleton Lake, as well as visits to their house in Florida. He taught his two sons Mike and Andrew almost everything they know, they often referred to him as their hero and best friend.
One of his favourite quotes:
"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you will still land among the stars."
Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held on Thursday, February 3, 2022, and on Friday, February 4, 2022. A private family service has taken place and a video recording is available at
