Ivan McGillivary Obituary

Passed away peacefully at his home in Brentwood with his family by his side on Thursday, May 5, 2022 in his 78th year. Ivan was born on March 28th, 1945 in Innisfil.
Beloved husband of Joyce for 55 years, Loving father to Clarence (Jenn). Cherished Papa of Brennan (Hillary) and Justin (Hannah).
Dear brother of John (Shirley), Isabel Cleary (Lyall) and Denalda McGillivary (the late Gerald). Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Lillian McGillivary. Son-In-Law-to Alan (deceased) and Marie Kidd, Brother-In-Law to Eleanor Dickey (Winston), Bruce Kidd, deceased (Brenda) Glen Kidd and Eve, Donna Kisiloski (Kent deceased), Doris Lee (Dave), Cleve Kidd deceased (Esther), Frances Jane Kidd (Anne). Ivan will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and their children.
Ivan enjoyed travelling and camping and had travelled from Newfoundland to British Columbia on several occasions, his longest trip being to Fairbanks, Alaska which took 7 weeks and then several years to Florida as a winter Snow Bird. Ivan mostly enjoyed travelling Ontario to see all the small towns and covered much of the province over the years. Christmas was an enjoyable time for Ivan, he loved to decorate the house and garden, playing Santa to his nieces, nephews, and the community at large.
Ivan was a long time employee of Cooper Tool (formerly Lufkin Rule) in Barrie from 1965-2009
Service was held on May 10th. in Angus at Steven Bridge Funeral Home, burial at the United Church Cemetery in New Lowell.
