Ivan SCHELL Obituary

Passed away at the Mariposa House Hospice, Severn, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Devoted and loving husband of Gail (nee LaHay) for 62 wonderful years. Loving father of Karen (Scott) Whittaker and Valerie Schell (Stephen McGovarin). Proud grandfather of Russell (Jessie) Angela, Evan (Kate), Calvin (Emma), Adam (Katrina), and Emily (Liam). Proud great-grandfather of Ryker, Sawyer, Cameron, Leena, Davey, and Fin. Survived by his sister Irene (Jim) Robertson. He enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren. Ivan and Gail spent many years traveling to Florida and Arizona. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hockey, playing euchre, and playing horseshoes. The family would like to thank Dr. Bauman, Dr. Rask (RVH), the OSMH Oncology Department, Bayshore Nurses, the wonderful staff of Mariposa House Hospice, and especially to nurse practitioner Joanne Matte, and for the kindness expressed by the Carson Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. The cremated remains will be interred in the spring at which time the family will have a graveside service. If desired, memorial donations may be made to OSMH Oncology Department or Mariposa House Hospice and would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home, 54 Coldwater Street E., Orillia, Ontario, 705-326-3595.

Valerie & Karen - So sad to hear of your Dad's passing and wish I could have been there to capture it for you. I hope you and your families find some peace and remember all the good times you had together :)

It has been decades since I spent time in the Schell home. After hanging outside with Karen and Valerie, or playing instruments inside Mr Schell always had such a wonderful smile and kindness.
Deepest sympathy at this sad and difficult time to all of his friends and family.
