John Meleady Obituary

John Michael Meleady, 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Humber River Hospital in Toronto. Born on April 21, 1950 in Manchester, England John lived a life full of adventure, travel and the arts. He was an accomplished musician playing the guitar, fiddle, bass and harmonica. Many will remember him from his days playing bluegrass music in Tottenham and the Tranzac in Toronto. He taught at the primary level in Simcoe County and is remembered by many as a fun, enthusiastic and inspiring teacher. He was involved in theatre as both a director and actor and an accomplished painter, creating artwork for multiple schools. A world traveler, he had been to almost every country spending months at a time living in Thailand and Mont St Michel, France. John easily made new friends wherever he went. He was spontaneous, curious and interested in life and new experiences. He is survived by his son Sean (Caitlin) and three granddaughters Eleanor, Audrey and Claire and will be remembered fondly by his friends and loved ones.

To our Meleady Cousins, I am so sorry to have recently heard of John´s passing. We met at my brother Ed´s funeral in 2017, when I chatted with a knowledgeable and fun cousin named John. I leaned a bit more about our Meleady side. (My grandmother was sister to Pete, Pat, Johnny, and Joe, as they were referred! ) I reached out to John over the past few months, knowing it was odd for him not to respond. I had a terrible thought and ventured to look John up in another ways and was very sad to have read about his passing. Would love to keep in contact with his children, and continue what we started. John was a bright man who could tell stories as only he could. I already miss him. My condolences to all.

It is with a very sad and heavy heart that I offer my sincere condolences to Johns family and friends. A free, creative and adventurous spirit has left this mortal coral to be forever missed.
I hold my memories of you in my heart to be called upon when needed most.
