It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John "Jack" Raino at the age of 79, on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Campbell House, Collingwood, after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. He will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Diane (nee Bodnar) of 39 years. Beloved father of Jennifer McLaughlin (Brian) and Kyle (Janine), and loving grandfather of Jordan, Declan, Braedan, Keira, Charlotte, Jack and Thompson. Dear brother of William "Bill" and Paul and their families. Predeceased by his mother Mary Kathleen (nee Brady) and father David Kenneth.
Jack grew up in Leaside and attended St. Michael's College School where his first love of sport was hockey and where he became an excellent player, coach and mentor to many young men.
Jack made many long-lasting friendships over the years, most notably through golf. Jack, along with his brother Paul, created a company called Golf Strategies of Canada where they staged professional golf tournaments and produced 250 golf television shows, as well as running a golf travel agency. Jack's outgoing and fun-loving personality allowed him to share many laughs on the 19th hole. He was very proud of shooting one under his age in golf at the age of 76. He will be missed by his many friends and fellow tour players from Midland Golf & Country Club, and Meadowbrook Golf & Country Club.
Memorial visitation will take place at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home, Wasaga Beach Chapel (509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach) on Monday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m., with a service to celebrate Jack's life at 12:00 noon, followed by a reception. Cremation has taken place. Remembrances to the
Canadian Cancer Society or a
Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated by Jack's family. To sign Jack's Book of Memories or to forward a message please visit
