In the early 1970s, Mr. Preston was my history teacher at Barrie District Central Collegiate. His classes were tightly organized and expertly taught. He brought history to life. His marking of my assigned papers and examinations was thorough. I knew that he read every word I wrote. He was quite simply the finest teacher I encountered at any level of my education. I remember him fondly and with great respect. My condolences to his family. ... Steven Thorne

Lloyd was such a kind and gentle man. I am grateful to have had the pleasure of having several fiddle lessons with him and sharing his love of music. He will be missed by many. My condolences to Joanne and family. Cheri Lowe

All my love from the west coast to the Preston family. Mr. Preston was a great man who´s talents, wit, charm and fatherly presence thread through our entire family - my grandpa who spent many a day in the stands with Lloyd while Carla and I played, sang and performed at school ended up starting violin lessons late in life under Loyds instruction and sparked a new generation of admiration for the family I knew since my toddler days - this hits home as we are all feeling a piece of our hearts break across our family.

Extending my heartfelt condolences to Jo-Ann and family. It has been a while, but I have many great memories of the years he played with the Bellaires, and Vern as one of his sidekicks. He came and played the fiddle at Vern´s funeral way back in 2006 and that was so much appreciated by me and Jim and Michelle and enjoyed by all. Take care!

Lloyd was such a beautiful and caring man. Even after retirement he continued to teach. I felt honoured when he agreed to teach me to play the fiddle. He will be missed by so many. My condolences to his family.

Another Great Fiddle Player gone. I have know Lloyd for many years. My late sister Robin Benson and the her sisters used to love listening to Lloyd. He would bring his mother to some of his performances and she would always ask about Robin. Rest in piece Lloyd.

Lloyd was my daughters Principle at Barrie North. He was often seen by me after his retirement playing at various seniors homes where he brought great joy. He always remembered us and had kind word. We collaborated on getting access to lockers from the old RVH for North where he became Locker Lloyd for awhile. He will be truly missed. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends
