Mary OKENKA

OKENKA, Mary Passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Monday, December 19, 2016, in her 95th year. Mary Okenka nee Kalina was born in the Czech Republic on June 18, 1922. Beloved wife of her late husband Martin Okenka, who passed away on January 21, 1988. Mary resided in Welland, formerly of Midland, between 1949 to 2007, working for 10 years as a Registered Nursing Assistant at the Midland Hospital. Gardening, cross country skiing, skating with friends storytelling and keeping current with news, weather, politics, reading and having a good time. She enjoyed life to the fullest especially having the grandchildren for summer holidays, hosting family meals. Dear mother of Frank (Elaine) Okenka, Ellen (Harold) Doyle. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Laurie, Kim, Conan, Matthew and Mark. Great-grandmother of Connor, Tristen, Ethan, Victoria, Ryland, Layla and Kennedy. The family will receive friends at the Nicholls Funeral Home, 330 Midland Ave., Midland on Thursday, December 22nd from 11 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 1 p.m. Spring interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Midland.
