Predeceased by his parents Sterling and Edna Barlow (nee Birch), Five brothers and sisters and His first wife, Freda Catherine Barlow (nee Mills). Loving father of Deborah Corbett (Deceased) (Lorne), Kevin Barlow (Joanne), Kim Westcott, Tami Murzin (Ed, Jr.). Cherished Grandfather of Lee, Kristopher, Samantha, Meagan, Ashley, Tyler, Randy, Alexandra and Matthew. Great-Grandfather of Owen, Jackson, Peyton, Kellen, Jaxson (deceased) He leaves his brother Wilfred Barlow (Barbara) of Parksville B.C. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 32 years Barbara Barlow (Nee Hutchinson) and many relatives and friends. At the age of 17, he joined the Air Force and frequently talked about the time he spent five days in an igloo in Cambridge bay on a survival course. After leaving the Air Force, Bruce had a very rewarding career in the financial world. He was President of the Canadian Progress Club in 1993, Ontario Chapter, a member of the Kinsmen Club and a member of the United Church. At the age of 60, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease but it never once stopped him from living a full life. He never once complained. He and Barbara enjoyed many years of golfing and curling. He was very proud of the fact he was on a curling team that had an 'eight-ender'. They also enjoyed many years of travelling the world. One of his favourite places was South Africa where they spent two winters. He was a true Canadian who liked to boast that he had either lived in or travelled to every province coast to coast. On many of his world trips you would often hear him say "We have the same scenery in Canada!". He was a devoted husband, a very kind , thoughtful, honest person with a dry sense of humour. To quote a friend, " He was a gentle soul". His presence will be greatly missed
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the W. John Thomas Funeral home, Alliston. As requested by Bruce there is to be no service, just a small gathering of close friends for a summer BBQ. Burial and service will be held at the family grave in P.E.I. in September. Donations in Bruce's name to Stevenson Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
