Susan Gastaldi Obituary

August 24, 1951 - September 22, 2022
Passed away peacefully September 22, 2022 at Royal Victoria Hospital as a result of an untimely accident. Susan was predeceased by her parents, Barbara and Clifford Slack. She is survived by her husband, Paul, daughter Jessica (Sean Barbour), son Nicholas (Shona Tait), brother Tim Slack (Lorraine), brother-in-law Brian Gastaldi (Gail-Lynn) and was predeceased by her brother-in-law Mark. Sue was the loving nana of Maelle and Isla Barbour and Fergus and Emerie Gastaldi, who were her pride and joy and who will miss her nurturing and guidance. Also survived by her stepmother, Ruth Bilous Slack, step brother John (Tina), step sister Tricia and their families.
Sue will be fondly remembered by her niece Brianna and nephews Jonathan, Marshall and Cole, her many cousins, both in Canada and the U.K. and her many friends. After graduating from McMaster University and teacher's college, Sue began her career as a senior elementary teacher with the Borough of York Board of Education, before becoming a devoted mother and grandmother. After her family had grown she resumed her teaching career as a supply teacher and volunteered with her local food bank. Her family was her passion and her cottage her happy place. Her family will forever cherish family time together on Gloucester Pool. As per Susan's wishes, cremation has already taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date when all of her family can be present to honour her. Donations, if desired, may be made to the Good Shepherd Food Bank, Alliston.

Dear Paul - We were so saddened to hear of Sue's sudden passing, and can´t imagine the deep hurt that you, Jessica, Nick and families are experiencing. Sue was such a kind hearted soul. I remember meeting her for the first time in Tottenham many years ago when we played baseball together on the same team.....( Dairy Queen). Sue was someone you immediately liked. She was a genuine, caring, warm person and her laugh would light up a room. I remember Sue dropping by one day when we were building and living on premises in a trailer, ......... Sue noticed some laundry I had and immediately picked it up and said - "I'm taking this home and will deliver it back to you", which she did all fresh and folded the next day!. What a beautiful person she was......inside and out. Sue will be missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing your lovely wife.
Healing hugs to you and family.
Terri and Jim Watt.
