Josephine Carswell Obituary

Grateful for her long and happy life, the family announces the peaceful passing of Josie Carswell on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Souris Personal Care Home at the age of 103. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Beverly (Max) Webber and their sons Bryan (Shannon) sons Ty and Jay, Scott (Sandra) daughter Annaka, son Jared. Her son Bob's family; Bob (Gillian) Carswell daughter Casey and son Bobby, David (Becky) Carswell, Susan Carswell and daughter Katie. Josie leaves a dear sister Frances Paul in Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews. Josie was predeceased by her loving husband Wes, parents Joseph and Harriett Fuller, son Bob, three brothers and five sisters. She was born in Carman, Manitoba on October 4, 1914 but spent her growing up years on a farm near Graysville. She married her high school sweetheart Wes on October 29, 1938. Later they would have twins Bev and Bob. During their school years Josie was very active in her community, taught Sunday School, a CGIT leader, member of the United Church ladies group, curling club and an Eastern Star member for over seventy years. After retiring from Eatons she moved to Souris to be close to her daughter's family. This was home for Josie for over thirty years. She was fortunate and thankful for a very sound mind as she aged gracefully, a true inspiration to all of us. She was a very kind, friendly and loving person who always thought of others. Her greatest joy was being together with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We celebrate her for the amazing lady she was and for a life well lived. She will be truly missed. Sincere thanks to Dr. Cram and nursing staff at PCH for your kindness and care. Funeral service was held at St. Paul's United Church, Souris, Manitoba on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00pm. Private interment in the Carman Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Josie may be made to the Heart & Stoke Foundation or to the Souris Personal Care Home c/o Prairie Mountain Health Box 10 Souris, Manitoba R0K 2C0.
