We were John's neighbours on Valley Drive in Whistler for many years & we really enjoyed his company. We also left Whistler, not long after John, but continued to stay in touch through email once a year at Christmas. We only just learned of his passing this week while we were visiting Tyaughton Lake. We hiked up into the alpine & thought of John many times on his beautiful Chilcotin trails. We never met his daughters, but he told us many wonderful things about you. Our condolences to you both. Your Dad was a wonderful guy & we feel lucky to have known him.

I very much enjoyed the friendship and the ribbing all mixed up as fun. Many adventures enjoyed and worlds explored, sure going to miss this guy.

I Remember the good times when John was in Ontario, he was a heavy equipment operator and was driving a backhoe down a huge steep hill, scared the crap out of me but that's the daredevil John is..deeply missed, condolences to his family.

Missing you my friend. The walks, the bike rides, the card games, a few ski days, the "let's meet for coffee" times, hearing about your family and how much you cared about them and of course "the cabin". So humble and such a champion.

So sad to hear of John's passing. We are thinking of him and remembering what a joyful person he was. He will be very missed by his friends and those who spent outdoor times with him.

John was a constant inspiration on and off the trails. Whether he was carving out new paths for everyone to enjoy or challenging himself to improve the ones already there, his passion for nature and community shone brightly. I´ll never forget the countless evenings spent laughing over a deck of cards, where his competitive spirit and sense of humor were always on full display. You´ll be deeply missed, John.

John really was a good man. ..a really solid, honest, intelligent, reliable man who people could absolutely count on to have their backs, to keep his word and to show up when the chips were down. He was also an interesting mix of competitive and easy-going that made him a delight...as his friend he could be both pushing you and trash-talking you but always also holding you in his unconditional love at the same time. His friendship has been a real gift in my life and I will miss him deeply .
