Mark Wilson Obituary
Mark Norman Wilson passed away on May 22, 2025, in Squamish, BC, with family by his side. He was 62 years old.
Born in Winnipeg in 1963, Mark moved to British Columbia as an infant and grew up in Colwood from 1966. He is survived by his siblings Lorne (Wendy) of Squamish, Carole of Sooke, and Lynne (Ross) of Saanich, along with four nephews, one niece, two great-nieces, three great-nephews, and longtime friend Cheryl of Esquimalt. Mark was predeceased by his beloved parents, George and Victoria Wilson of Colwood.
Throughout his career, Mark worked as a fishing guide at Pedder Bay Marina, drawing on skills honed through years of fishing with his father and brother. He also worked at Esquimalt dockyard before launching his own glass furniture business, designing beautiful custom pieces.
Diagnosed with Parkinson's in his early twenties, Mark faced this decades-long challenge with remarkable grace. Though never one to shy away from grumbling about small issues, he never once asked "Why me?" about his condition, instead meeting it with quiet dignity and strength.
Mark will be remembered for his sharp wit, impeccable memory, and exceptional organizational skills. He also had a bit of a stubborn streak that endeared him to all who knew him. He loved cars, movies, music, and decadent foods.
In 2012, Mark moved to Squamish to be closer to his brother Lorne and became a resident of Hilltop House, where he lived until his passing. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the care aides, nurses, and doctors who provided Mark with skilled and compassionate care throughout his illnesses.
At Mark's request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hilltop House in Squamish in his memory.
