I'm so sorry to have missed Maureen's Celebration of Life! It wasn't until after it had happened that I heard that Maureen had passed.

I knew Maureen originally through the Squamish United Church where I sang in the Choir for a number of years. As a long-time member of the community she was always warm and welcoming.

I later got to know her better when I was organizing events in Squamish and would arrange to have her post them in the Squamish Chief Newspaper. There were many events connected with the Wild at Art Festival when I was Festival Coordinator in 2007-2008. I sat on the BIA for a while before it became the "BIA" so there were community events to be announced during that time as well. In addition, I have a band called Carolyn Grass & Friends and would frequently let her know when and where we were performing.

Finally, I re-connected with Maureen at Hilltop House where my current band plays for the Residents twice a month. We would frequently chat about the "old days" and she continued to maintain her wonderful pleasant manner. She was a lovely woman and as the Squamish Chief stated - "The end of an Era"!

I send my sincere condolences to her family.
