Janet BAUERFIND Obituary

June 10, 1933 – May 7, 2017

The Heavenly choir has just gained a wonderful piano player. Jan will be reunited with her mother, Leah and father, Norman; her step-dad, Roy; sister, Natalie; and the two beloved men in her life, Ross Rayment and Boyd Bauerfind. What a party it will be!

Missing her music and laughter, and her loving, generous, joyful nature are her family: Cathy (Robert Carveth) Rayment; Nancy (Terry) MacPherson; Karen (Les) Wills; Dang (Chi) Hoang; grandchildren: Matthew (Lisa) MacPherson, Justin (Grace) Carveth, Catherine (Craig) Prodahl, Carmen (Matt) Forth, Evan Carveth, Nancy MacPherson, Megan (Adair) Hagerty, Rory Wills, David Carveth, Dylan Hoang, Chantal Hoang; great-grandchildren: Addison and Emily Prodahl, Mackenzie Forth, Finley Hagerty, and due soon baby MacPherson.

Jan (Grama Honey) was the heart of our family. She thrived on taking care of the people and critters she loved and she had a bottomless capacity for that! She held so many people in her heart: dear friends and neighbours (old and new), the Groovy Gang, the UCW, her teaching peers and former students, the birding community, her much-loved extended family, and all the animals in our lives.

We are Celebrating her Life at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at St. Albert United Church, 20 Green Grove Drive, St. Albert, AB T8N 5H6.

In honour of Jan's loving and giving nature, we encourage you to give of yourself to others. Bring Joy to someone's life.

Cathy, Nancy, and Karen,
I came across some pictures in a box when we cleared out my parents home in Lethbridge a few years ago of your Mom and Boyd at my parents St. Albert home from the '70's and made a note to look up your Mom. Found the note today and am sad to have missed seeing her again. So many great memories from such a short time being neighbours, I don't know where to start. She always had that wonderful smile that was only beaten by a bigger heart. She will always be in mine.

Dear Cathy, Nancy and Karen
I read about your mom's passing in the New Trail magazine and wanted to add my deepest sympathy to you and your families. Your mom was my grade 6 teacher at Oliver School and Cathy, you and I were in the same grade. Your mom was my favorite teacher of all time. I remember I had a bike accident and had to stay home a couple of days to recover from a concussion. When I came back to school, I was playing softball at noon. Your mom especially brought me a cap to shade me from the sun. She was so thoughtful and kind, and yes, a wonderful piano player!

Cathy, Nancy and Karen,
I was so very saddened to accidentally come across the notice regarding your mum's passing. Your mum was my Gr. 5 teacher at Glenora School and years later when I became a teacher myself, I came to know her as a dear friend and mentor when she taught at Lynnwood School. Your mum had a huge impact on my life in so many ways. I know I was not the only student or colleague who adored her. I can only imagine how much you will all miss her but know she would not want any of us to do anything but celebrate her life and your own. I also remember each of you as we walked back and forth to school along 102 Ave in Edmonton. Please accept my warmest and sincerest sympathies. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Fondly, Wendy Jamieson, Toronto

A beautiful synopsis of a beautiful life well lived.

Janet was such a wonderful, cheerful person and I have many memories of her back when she was in nursing school at Royal Jubilee Hospital with my sister, Pat. She spent many happy times at our home - she called my mother "Mrs. P." and referred to her as her other mother. I was lucky to have visited her while in Edmonton and reconnect after so many years. My condolences to you all.

Thinking of all of you during this time. Jack was fortunate to meet up with her a few weeks ago and her face lit up when she realized he was Chelsea's Dad. We always knew her as "Grandma Honey" and we know how much she loved and was loved.
Cherish her memory and know she will be forever in your hearts.

Jan was a beautiful soul that I feel very privileged to have known. We didn't stay in contact but whenever I would meet her anywhere in our travels there was a hug. I am so sad to hear of her passing as she will be missed by so many. Her memory will remain in my heart forever.

I remember sharing many happy years with Jan as a colleague at J.A. Fife School. She had a passion for teaching and a great love for her students. Jan and I shared heaps of laughter as we wrote skits involving staff members. Her sense of humour was a continual bubble of joy to all of us. Jan, thanks for the memories.
I offer my deepest sympathy to all family members.
